Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani chaired today, Sunday, the second meeting of the Supreme Council for Women’s Affairs.
The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani chaired the second meeting of the Supreme Council for Women's Affairs."
Prime Minister chaired the second meeting of the Supreme Council for Women on Sunday. The meeting witnessed the participation of Ms. Dunya Abdul Jabbar Al-Shammari, the head of the Parliamentary Committee on Women, Family, and Childhood. Discussions focused on the Child Protection Law and the importance of coordinating with the legislative authority to pass this crucial legislation in the Council of Representatives. The meeting also covered the protection from domestic violence bill and its role in promoting social stability in Iraq.
Furthermore, the Supreme Council for Women discussed organizing an Arab Women's Forum in Baghdad to address key issues affecting Arab women in the political, legal, economic, and social sectors.
The importance of institutional building for women in various sectors of the Iraqi state was emphasized, with a focus on supporting women's affairs departments in ministries, governorates, and all government institutions. The Minister of Finance was elected as the deputy head of the Supreme Council for Women.
