PM Muhammed S. Al-Sudani affirmed on Tuesday Iraq's desire to build a strategic partnership with Spain.

Al-Sudani made a telephone call with Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez, during which "he appreciated Spain’s position and its important step in recognizing the State of Palestine, expressing his appreciation for what the Spanish government took to support the Palestinian cause and to denounce the aggression against innocent people in Gaza," according to a statement by the PM Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

During the call, the Prime Minister stressed that “these positions taken by major countries have a significant impact in deterring aggression and preventing genocide that is practiced brutally and unscrupulously against the Palestinians, and lack of respect for international and humanitarian laws," reiterating "Iraq’s interest in establishing security and stability in the region. It is necessary to avoid all causes of the expansion of the conflict."

According to the statement, PM A-Sudani explained to his Spanish counterpart Iraq’s desire to build a strategic partnership with Spain, the participation of companies specialized in the urban and development renaissance witnessed by Iraq and the investment-attractive environment, as well as proceeding with a bilateral relationship in multiple fields.

In turn, Sanchez renewed his invitation to Al-Sudani to visit Spain to further discuss bilateral files and hold joint committee meetings, in a way that strengthens the partnership and contributes to developing relations between the two countries.
